Services

Experienced staff can assist our customers with personalised advice and service.

Afast can provide you with the correct product advice. Our products are tested in combination with the most widely used roofing membranes in the market. We can offer you the safest and most efficient solution for every roof type, for all substrates and in combination with all possible roofing membranes. Feel free to contact our customer service or one of our advisors.

We provide wind load calculations within 48 hours. Our professional software optimises the number of fasteners for each roof project.

The objective of a wind load calculation is to determine the number of fasteners on a roof. In this calculation, the different roof zones are also determined. A roof consists of 2 central zones, an edge zone and an angle zone.

The number of fasteners is determined per zone. This is dependent on various factors including the shape of the building, the height and the geographical location. The calculation uses calculation values which are determined experimentally for each type of roofing membrane in combination with a particular fastener. Please contact us to request a wind load calculation.

The main objective of a pull-out test is to determine the quality of the substrate.
Each substrate is investigated in order to find the best solution for obtaining the maximum extraction value.

Another important aspect of the pull-out test is to give the proper processing recommendation for any particular fastener.
The roofer benefits from the highest possible extraction value but a simple processing of the fasteners is just as important. The extraction tests are taken care of by Afast.

The entire Guardian® range is tested and permanently monitored in accordance with the latest European legislative guideline ETAG-006.

All parameters for roof fasteners are tested under this guideline, such as:
- Static and dynamic tests to determine calculating values;
- Corrosion resistance according to Kesternich DIN 50018 S2, OL
- Unwinding effect of steel fasteners
- Ageing of plastics
- Traceability of the products
- Quality control system

Demonstrations of products and systems can be arranged on site or at Afast Holding in Helmond.

FM Global is an American insurance and risk management company. FM Global insures commercial buildings all over the world. In Europe FM Global insured building projects are getting more and more common.
When offering Guardian fastening system to a FM insured project the following details are important:

1. An European project requires CE marked products with associated DoP.
2. Design for wind load according EN 1991-1-4 + NA to meet the European construction rules.
3. FM insured projects requires full scale wind load tests according to FM-4470
4. Same type of roof membrane available in different widths requires separate wind load testing according to FM-4470 for each width.
5. Only FM tested combinations of products can be used for the build up
6. FM insured projects require wind load calculations according to FM data sheet 1-28 based on the results from FM-4470 test program for the roof build up.
7. Wind load calculation according to EN 1991-1-4 should be compared with calculation according to FM data sheet 1-28. The most conservative of the two should be used for design of the roofing fasteners for the project.

Guardian® fasteners tested and approved by FM.

As of 1 July 2013, the new European legislation for construction products entered into force. Construction products, and therefore also fastening materials, must be certified (ETA - Electronics Technicians Association).

Manufacturers of construction products are now obligated to substantiate and specify the performance of their products. This performance is recorded per product in a ‘Declaration of Performance’ (DoP), a document that guarantees that the products you buy meet the new European legislation.

To customers, a DoP simply means that they are assured of the quality of a product. The DoPs of our products are available on request. For more information please contact our Customer Service department, telephone number +31 (0)492 597400.
